Ford F-800 Cummins – Dynamic Medium Duty Self-Loading Wrecker Tow Truck.Do you love the ease of operating repo style self-loading tow trucks but the small size of these trucks leaves you yearning for more? I have the truck you need. This thing is BIG. Tow box trucks school buses food trucks and motor homes big. This tow truck is also about as ugly as taxes and politics. We like this truck and its pretty cool but its a touch too big for most of our needs. This orange ford started life as a VDOT wrecker truck. Its essentially a dynamic 801 with a heavy duty self-loader and a 12k boom with twin winches. In some photos you will see a sling/towbar in place this was found to be worn & damaged. It has since been removed and is not included. You could easily install another if you wish at any time. Its the wheel lift that is really unique on this truck. The drawbar is 92 inches wide with every other dimension oversized as its made specifically to haul medium-duty trucks. While it does have adapters to allow you to haul smaller cars you may run into some vehicles with a track width that is too narrow to fit on this wheel lift 47 is the minimum inside of the tires clearance. The controls for this wrecker body are electronic with a manual override located inside the toolbox at the solenoids. There is a remote in the cab to operate all features of the wheel lift. Inside the toolbox is a 2nd remote for the wheel lift and then another thats just for the main boom and winches. The PTO is turned on with a switch and appears to be air operated. This is all built on is a 26K Ford F-800 Low Pro. Its got a 5.9l Cummins 12 valve p pump engine in front of an Allison automatic trans. It runs rides and drives surprisingly well but has an approximate top speed of 60 mph or 65 downhill. This is an air brake truck with the ability to also control air trailer brakes on a towed vehicle or trailer. The interior is NICE the seat looks good the dash is nice and overall it looks good. AC and Heat work exactly as they should as do the beacons and other lights. The only known issues at this time are: one of the lift cylinders for the wheel lift boom leaks at the base but its small and while we have replaced some of the switches in the interior remote they are not the exact correct ones but they work. The speedo also comes and goes That will need to be addressed at some point. The folding and extend cylinders have just been rebuilt. Drawbar and pin have recently been redone. Many new hydraulic lines as well. While it does work this is an OLD truck it works like an OLD truck and is priced accordingly.
